RAGS OF MEMORY

Rags, pieces of mind, of flesh, of thoughts, of memories. Elements of a fragmented world struggling in vain to find a new unity. Photographic, performing, artistic fragments bouncing in the mind, transformed by the memory of their creator. Images that come to life through opposite colours that enclose the essence of the feminine and the masculine, of birth and death. Actions full of symbolic and ancestral meanings, expressed through contemporary art’s means. All this brings to the creation of a delirious plan, in which three moments of reflection put the foundation of an endless process of creation and destruction, continually changing depending on the space, the situation and the place. Three moments able to create independent performances, but yearning to be together 
 
The performance is part of an international project of theatre and performing arts research which explores the new possibilities of the performer and the theatrical communication through the interaction with other disciplines such as cultural anthropology, visual arts and media, ritual dances and songs belonging to different holy and profane cultural traditions. The main theme of the performance is “the memory”, memory as integral part of an human being, the biological and anthropological condition for his existence, the memory of that humanity that has understood through suffering atrocities such as war and slaughter, the fragility of the human body, his substance of flesh, reducing into shreds in the absence of life. Starting from these suggestions, Instabili Vaganti began to reflect and create physical actions, songs, texts, photos, videos, artistic objects and to compose music, developing these elements through the new spaces, places and cultural conditions of the contexts in which the project was invited and thanks to meeting with new artists involved in the different stages.

INSTABILI VAGANTI

Founded in 2004 by Anna Dora Dorno and Nicola Pianzola the company has developed a method in which the physical and vocal actions of the performers interact with different artistic forms.
The result is an organic unity of physical actions, songs, live music, poetry, visual art and new media.
The company is also engaged in work of research and actualization of performance techniques and cultural traditions through its own personal experimentation and artistic contamination. Besides realization of performances, the company is involved in organization of theatre workshops and international projects of theatre’s research.
Instabili Vaganti has toured its performances and conducted workshops in Italy, France, Germany, England, Poland, and S.Korea. The company is currently collaborating with the Grotowski Institute of Wroclaw and the University of Bologna for its new project Rags of memory. http://www.instabilivaganti.com
