SCREECH ORCHESTRA
Screech Orchestra is music, song and dance.Screech Orchestra: the first original project by the actress and dancer Jelena Rusjan, is an exploration of a form of theatre where the obscure forces of violence, personal responsibility and lost childhoods face the variegated aesthetics of kitch-noir. The performance draws its inspiration from a great variety of sources, from the darkness of McDonagh's Pillowman and Andersen tales, to the playful Tim Burton, folk song and uncompromising punk. The project resulted in a musical cast unable to avoid its theatrical roots. Through stories of tormented and abused children, the performers present mainly themselves on stage. The key feature of the Screech Orchestra is a critical relation between lighter pop patterns and serious, almost weighty, content used to establish the issue of an artist’s responsibility toward their social and cultural environment, as well as to search out the most effective forms of expression.
GLEJ THEATRE
For 40 years Glej (Look Theatre in English) has been synonymous with new, fresh, open and contemporary theatre. Almost all the great names of Slovene theatre have walked across our stage. Our performances have been meeting with great success at home and abroad, and have received numerous awards and commendations. To this day, Glej maintains its original mission: to seek and create new trends and directions in theatre. Our shows are communicative and open, yet at the same time well thought out and constructed. We deal with contemporary approaches to the spectator, living stories and engaging projects. We seek out and unravel paradoxes, try to find names for nameless phenomena and approach themes and situations directly and with an open mind. As well as adult and children’s performances Glej publishes books, music and a monthly newsletter. www.glej.siRAGS OF MEMORY
