MINISTER SPEECH

Theatre is one of the most universal artistic media. Thanks to its open spirit, the theatre, with a great comfort since its primitive roots up to date, coexisted and interacted in harmony with other arts, for which the gates of its great scene were constantly open. Hence this, the fact isn’t strange that a considerable part of creative impulses and images, in the form of excitement, impact or stimulation in the theatre come from other artistic media.

Such a media, for instance, is music, which, with all its performance flows, has been and continues to be a powerful catalyst of theatric creative process. In fact, the amplitude of impact of music on the theatre moves from signals with peripheral character up to the almost definite influence, even with a will of meeting point and identification of these two great artistic media’s with each other.

The first edition of International Theatre Festival in Kosova, which this year is organized under the motto “Singing, music, and ritual – identification and meeting point of theatre with itself” is a direct reflection of natural relation of the theatre with music and with ritual. Such configuration of this edition is a great possibility for theatre authors and for a wide public in Kosova that through creative experience of theatric companies from various worldwide countries, which in this edition come with their performances within this conceptual vision, to taste, absorb and in meantime, to experience the creative act within this vision and perception.

Certainly, the organizing of the first edition of the International Theatre Festival in Kosova is a continuation of international cooperation of the National Theatre of Kosova and in meantime, of our joint efforts for a greater presence of this theatre and other Kosova theatres into the European and Worldwide artistic scenes. Through continuous contact with creative and artistic worldwide trends, our theatre should absorb and embrace those standards and creative values, which, in various appearances with international character, competing with others, away from any inferiority and provincial mentality, would make it a dignified competitor and a powerful contemporaneous representative of artistic and cultural colors of our country.

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports supported and will continue to support the National Theatre of Kosova on its efforts for creating a more sustainable modern image. The support for organizing of this festival is part of cultural policies, as well as a continuous and serious commitment of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports in the function of transforming the institution of National Theatre of Kosova into the artistic medium of values and international professional standards.
